    1. (-20/40)(y^(5-3) = (-1/2) y^3

    2. since m^0 = 1 and n^0 = 1, then 1/1 + 1 = 2

    1. aCancel the -20 with the 40 to create a 2 on the bottom

    -y^5/2y^2

    b. Subtract the powers of the y's

    -y^(5-2) = -(y^3)/2

    2. Anything to the power of 0 is 1 so

    1/ m^0 = 1/1= 1

    n^0 = 1

    So the answer is 1 + 1 = 2
