Storage space should be pretty reasonable and should be around atleast 80Gb. (Buy an external Hard Drive to compensate.)
Memory should be around 256-512MB of SDDR Memory (Compensate by installing an extra 512-1000MB of memory into Motherboard) The memory can be found in Best Buy or other CPU stores.
17" Screen should be ok. Try looking on Newegg.com or Fry's.
Now would be a good time to look. Christmas sales.
For networking, get a good network card. I use Linksys, and look for a 802.11g wireless or Bluetooth (pretty much anything that allows for good signal.)
I'm not sure of networking, but you can always buy PC magazines and order anything you need from the back.

When you are ready to buy a new system, go to www.stupidcheapcomputers.net. I buy all of my stuff from them, and everything is Vista ready.
Microsoft is about to release its latest operating system, Vista, in January. It’s going to make all of these “bargain” computers nothing but JUNK as soon as it’s released. The reason that you are seeing so many cheap systems on the market right now is because a lot of them CAN’T RUN Vista and the merchants are trying to dump them as hard and fast as they can before Vista shows up and everyone learns what a piece of crap they were sold for $500 (or whatever).
Anyway, I bought a complete, new system from stupidcheapcomputers.net with a warranty for LESS than it would cost me to build it myself or order a custom one from the manufacturer. You can use my frequent buyer code: ATX926. That will get an additional 10% discount at checkout.
I have NEVER had any problems with anything that they have sold me and their customer service is outstanding. Those guys blow my mind.

maximum computers those days could desire to paintings. I also have a Toshiba satellite tv for pc A215 ($800). My sister has an HP Pavilion and my different sister has a Gateway and all of us oftentimes play video games (the Sims 2) on it. you're able to desire to be waiting to play video games on maximum computers costing around $one thousand. in case you prefer greater effective overall performance, deploy greater RAM or substitute your pix/Video Card.
