    Because you normally have "to feel" [something], and it is not used alone.

    John wanted to feel better about his rudeness to Mary.

    Angie wanted to feel less queasy, so she took Pepto-bismol.

    vs.

    Androids want to feel, not be programmed to react.

    (The last sentence is an example of the infinitive.)
