    Forget religion.

Christ is the path of salvation.

Christ is the truth of God's Word.

    Christ is the life eternal.

Joh 14:6 Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me.

Christ is the tree of life.

Gen 3:22 And the LORD God said, Behold, the man is become as one of us, to know good and evil: and now, lest he put forth his hand, and take also of the tree of life, and eat, and live for ever:

I'm not a very religious person either, and I sometimes wonder why we are here. Even if there was an afterlife, I would still find mortal existence (of any species) to some extent futile. I mean, even if there was a heaven---then what? Would we just live infinitely in paradise (and doing what? I wonder? Sipping a pina colada and spying on those still on earth?) We seem to have no other reason to exist except to procreate.

So I have found satisfaction in knowing how far we have come as a species:

Coming from an evolutionary standpoint- You can find hope in yourself and others by believing that you have a role to better this civilization for your offspring. If you're a non-believer and haven't already, read Asimov's Foundation. It is one man's vision of hope in science and knowledge.

Read up on your world history, and you will realize how far man has come since we came into existence, and you will marvel at how we went from knowing only rocks to creating things like silicon and rockets from these *rocks*. It still boggles my mind.

I might never have kids, but it would be interesting to see how our present influences play out 500 years from now (assuming we haven't destroyed ourselves!)

I may not be the best person to answer this however I do have what I feel is a good opinion on it. I have never been able to understand religion. I am always questioning its origin and its meaning and its reliability. We have preachers telling us what god wanted what he was telling us..what way were are supposed to be acting and how we are to live our lives. But how can we be assured of how things really were. Its like telling a person a something you heard as gossip and that person tells someone and so forth by the time it reaches its third or fourth person its totally no longer the true statement. Anyways I do believe that we can be spiritual and live a good life. I find the good in people and go off that. We can deciphor the good people and the ones that are helpful...and give of themselves..and that in itself is hope...

  • I'm an atheist myself. I have great hope for myself and my family as well as my friends. I am less hopeful for a society that is shifting towards a clash of belief systems. Half the American people believe that the world is about 6000 years old and that Jesus will definitely or probably come back in the next 50 years. That blind faith scares me. The answer is not to join them in their delusions, but to stand up against them and question their beliefs. There is no reason why we can't be happy without faith. I am very happy.

Read Sam Harris "the end of Faith" and Richard Dawkins "the God Delusion".

anyone can find hope in any religion.

but its like cipher, or is it cifer, in the movie matrix. he wanted the Lie of the matrix More than the reality of truth.

Having hope in the gospel of jesus christ is a couple of notches above hope in religion.

but as it is written. God did not spare Even His Own son. He wont spare "US" either.

If i had hope in God I would always have hope no matter how much evil falls upon my head. but the difference between being ground to a pulp is not the same thing as loving life without any hardships.

Hope for all of humanity lies in EDUCATION.

One can develope native potential & educational enhancement of self.

Education for self improvement in ability to meet the tasks of living is

not realistically achieved by shear memorization of the bible or koran.

Note recent news reports of Taliban in Afghanistan killing school teachers who try to teach girls.

What hope do those fundamentalist religionists hold out to females who

are no more than property to them. Are Christian "Promise Keepers" and

Mormons who practice pleural marriage any better?

You are not suppose to look to people and religion to give you hope. Both fail you! Jesus is the only hope giver and He loves you. All you have to do as accept this gift.

isn't happiness within your own self worth the world?

i dont believe in god or religion and i am a well adjusted being with a positive outlook on life..i also have many friends and am very happy!

  • I don't find my hope in the religion I practice, but I find my hope in God/Jesus , knowing that he cares for me & will be there for me gives me hope.

I know you don't believe, but you must be interested in

God/ Jeusus if you asked this question.

    take care
