What do you mean by outside atmosphere?

If you mean space, it is vacuum. There is no air.

Air is only there in earth and a few planets.

Air spaces are mostly in the spongy mesophyll. They are connected to the outside atmosphere via the stomates (when the stomates are open, that is).

In the mesophyll the spongy parenchyma has so many air chambers one of those chambers is bellow the stomata pore or stomata is connected to out side air and inside gas chamber in the air space. Thus they maintain the connection with the inside and out side
