I don't know, but I got spit on by one TWICE... it smells really bad and tastes worse (it spit all over my face EEEWWW)

it's not a habit, it's a natural thing for them. Just like, say, hairy legs on women; it's natural.

Why do women shave their legs?

    Fun facts

    • Do camels really spit? They aren’t actually spitting—it’s more like throwing up! They bring up the contents of their stomachs, along with saliva, and project it out. This is meant to surprise, distract, or bother whatever the camel feels is threatening it.

It's a defense mechanism just like the spitting cobra.

Because they have contempt for every other creature. The camel is the only creature who knows the 1000th name of God.
