No where is it written that an engagement ring has to be gold, diamonds, expensive etc. It is merely a symbol of someones intent to take you as his bride. Some people don't even have an engagement ring. If you like it, it makes no difference what others may think. It's the thought not the value that is important, besides the majority of people wouldn't know a real stone from a fake anyway. Save your money for more important things.

CZ are good fakes but still can be pricey considering. A good place to find some that I was told by my (now x ) fiance...and it wasnt because of the ring, was on the qvc website. They are called diamonique. They have a wide variety and are normally less than a few hundred. I had a princess cut with baguettes in a nice white gold band for less than 100. I know it sounds cheap, but its a symbol, not a value thing. My friends grandparenst weremarried for 60 years. They both passed away recently but had no wedding rings for years and years. They had given there gold toward the war efforts in italy years ago and needed no rings t oprove their love for one another.

    HSN.com and QVC.com and Ebay.com

I think if you follow the customer recommendations (on HSN and QVC you can read reviews from people who already have the ring, so you can read if they think it looked real or not) you can find a ring that looks real for between $75 and $100. If you don't want white gold or yellow gold, and like silver it can be even cheaper.

I also don't think it's a bad idea. My fiance spent a lot of money for my ring, but honestly I wouldn't care if it was CZ. As long as you guys love each other and you know that the ring won't be real diamonds, it's perfectly alright. I mean that's more money you can put towards your future as a couple! I would suggest looking for a decent quality ring, though, just because it will last longer and you still want the ring to be beautiful even if it isn't a real diamond. I always pay really close attention to the customer recommendations. If ten women got the ring and say it looks like the real thing, then maybe it's safer than buying a ring with no customer feedback. One thing I would definitely say is don't go too big with the CZ. If you're wearing a 5 carat rock most people know that no one but doctors, lawyers, and rock stars can afford something that big. I'd say keep it simple and keep it smaller. No matter what, you're going to be saving a TON of money if you buy CZ.

I'd thought I'd add links to a few with very good reviews that weren't too huge:

Do will what you feel most comfortable wiht. If you don't feel comfortable about it you won't want to wear it. Alot of major brands(Tacori) are sold with a CZ as the main stone but if there is stones in the band they are the diamonds. No one will know unless you tell them. Try getting a "fashion" ring from a retailer. Alot resemble engagement rings but half the cost.

Ebay has some awesome rings for GREAT prices! Thats where I am planning on getting my anniversary set. Esp if you want the lab created diamonds! You should REALLY check it out. And no I don't think it's tacky..

It's seriously tacky to *lie* about what the ring is.

But if all he can afford is CZ, and he's up front about it, be happy with CZ. You don't want him going into debt for the rest of his life over the ring, do you? It's the thought that counts. If he's sincere in his proposal, that's great.

  • if your cool with it, then why not?

Also, if money is currently tight... let me throw this idea out there...

I know a couple that wasn't able to financially splurge when they first got married, so the guy just bought what he could at first with the promise that he would increase the size every year on their anniversary. He kept his promise little by little, and she has quite a rock now. Just wanted to share that story because it's so sweet that worked so hard every year to make it up to her (even though she didn't really mind).

I don't think it's cheap. It's all about what you will be happy with as a couple until you can afford the real thing. The real deal lasts longer.

Check eBay and/or Google the description for web sites.

Yes, it is cheesy! Any ring on any of the other fingers can be fake but the engagement ring should be the real deal. The meaning of your relationship is a mirror image to the ring. It is said that a man should spend the equivalent of two months' salary to buy his love a diamond ring.

Also, keep in mind that the love that diamond stands for – not the size or cost of the stone – is more important to a woman than anything else.
