why does batman have the bat logo on his chest?

there is a real reason why he has a bat logo on his chest.i really need to know why?

    He added a yellow background to it so when he gets shot people will focus on the chest where he has bullet proof protection. He didn't want to get shot on the face.

    SIGH. This is all explained in the comics, if anyone here has been intelligent enough to READ them.

    The Bat logo is the logo of Bruce Wayne's father's company called BatThink. They were a scientific company who used bats to experiment new products on.

    Batman got his powers from a radioactive bat who had escaped.

    Batman created a symbol because symbols (ideals) are harder to destroy than a man. Batman wanted to make himself more than a man.

    Initially, in the comics, the symbol was meant as a distraction for criminals while he could bop them in the head. But, later it grew into a symbol that he could be recognized by.

    Superheros have their logos... its just tradition. Superman has an S, Spiderman has a spider...
