I have a Brother MFC DPC 110C it shows the cartridges are empty when they aren't and when I take them out it says that they aren't replaced. It printes black very lightly what is the trouble with it?

We had the same problem, cartridge carrier/print head is bad, wasn't worth repairing when priners are cheaper than ink refills now adays

Yo. You might want to try cleaning the cartridges. You can do this from your computer in Printer settings.
Also the other reason your printer does this is that the sensor that analyzes the amount of ink in the cartridges is either dirty, or malfunctioning.
Or the cartridge is just plainly empty and you can't see that.
