Are there any significant physical effects from Sodium?

Ive heard that too much sodium can adversely affect your body. Is this true? What does it do? How much is a dangerous amount to ingest?

Sodiium can cause water weight gain and/ or make your blood pressure high and irregular which can lead to heart attack or stroke. You should use no more than a few shakes of salt to keep these effects at bay.

    Yep, it's salt.

    Hardening of the arteries, hypertension.

As far as how much is dangerous, there is so much added to food you buy, that it's best to just NEVER add any to your food.

You're still probably getting too much, even if you never touch a salt shaker.
