Were Iraqis better off with Saddam?

Kofi Annan apparently thinks so.

I think that once the violence gets under control through negotiations, etc. the entire country will be better off than when Saddam and his sons were in power. Right now, it definitely is not a pretty picture. I heard an interesting report from a military official on the ground in Iraq...He said that most of the country of Iraq is without violence and that most of the violence is in Baghdad and within a 30-mile radius of Baghdad...Interesting, I think.

hi, you've raised an really pertinent question... the way that I see this quagmire is that, there have been a procedures a lot less attacks on human existence and civil unrest than there at present is at present. The scenes that I view contained in the archives media depicts utter caos and destruction. there is mind-blowing corruption with the aid of, Iraqi police and mass homicide that is off the size. there is not any way that any rational, compassionate man or woman can locate a mind-blowing out of this mess. Pardon me for saying yet, Saddam might want to were some style of chief to keep all of those different factions at bay which at the on the spot are in the different case, invading the area and taking carry... i ask your self who will look after and help each of the civilian casualties who were regrettably maimed as through the this occupation. i need to commend you on the actual incontrovertible fact that you had the foresight to request that persons responding to this question supply contemplation to their reaction. I absolutely were a member of this on-line communicate board because the thirteenth... I absolutely have spoke of that there are lots of those who attempt to respond to complicated questions without genuine understand-how. although venting anxieties on-line might want to be a alleviation and relaxing, one must be intellectually functional to have a mind-blowing impact. I joined this communicate board as a fashion to objective to harmoniously communicate with different individuals quite than perpetuate idiosyncrasies.

Old Kofi thinks with his Swiss Bank accounts. For the moment, things were probably less hectic and more ordered, but in the long run, if we keep the pressure up, things will get better. The other loonies in the ME are beginning to show signs of worry. Witness the Hizbullah carrying on in Lebanon, all the wild statements made recently indicate we are on the right track, just need to shift our tactics.

I am beginning to think so. 655,000 that Bush has killed and still counting, at least there wasn't an insurgency with Saddam. Country in ruins, no electric or water. To bad we can't put it back the way it was and see.

Are you better off worrying about just talking out against the government or worrying if you will have electricity, running water, medical supplies, schools, if you will be killed for your sect or job.

Which is better, you tell me.
