Why can you only save on the World Map in Final Fantasy III?

What's so special about quicksave?

Update:

Final Fantasy III for DS, sorry.

Update 2:

What does "preemptive strike" mean?

What does MP stand for?

My characters are level 9 (I just started the game), so how many magic points should they have?

I assume you mean the japanese final fantasy 3 that was originally released on the nes.

I'm not sure why you can only save on the world map. I'm going to go out on a limb and assume they just didn't bother, they were sticking to the original formula.

That and the dungeons usually wern't as long as they are in some of the other final fantasies, so they probably didn't feel it was necessary introducing them.
