How can people say that their religion is right?

there are so many religions and even mythology used to be a religion but yet every one will say that their religion is right. How do you know which one is the right one? Please do not answer this if you're just going to tell me that you just KNOW your religion is right. I don't want to see these types of replies

The true religion will practice love. True worshippers are “no part of the world" They are not divided by race or culture, and display “love among themselves.” Rather than killing one another, they are willing to die for one another. They will be peaceable with all people. Therefore they refuse to participate in the wars of any nation.

The true religion will put it's complete trust in God's Word.: Instead of teaching “tradition” and “commands of men as doctrines,” true religion bases its teachings on God's Word, the Bible.

The true religion strengthens families and upholds high moral standards: True religion trains husbands to “love their wives as their own bodies,”and helps wives to develop “deep respect for their husbands,” and teaches children to “be obedient to their parents.”

As one of Jehovahs Witnesses, I know I have found the one true faith, for our faith employs all of these things.

The one thing that is truly remarkable is our ability to minister to others worldwide, despite the persecution and hatred we endure.

Just like Jesus and his apostles, we continue to preach and feel as the apostle Paul did as stated at 1 Corinthians 9:16--"Yet when I preach the gospel, I cannot boast, for I am compelled to preach. Woe to me if I do not preach the gospel"

I've studied the major world religions and I think the following arguement could be made:

All religions are correct, even Scientology.

The path to the center of a sphere is different from each point outside, so must we all have an individual path to god. Many people convert religions as they need futher lessons that are not available.

Objectively, all the worlds religions are as similar as our languages. We all use nouns and verbs, and often rely on narratives and descriptions. Similarly, all religions have "cause and effect" (Karma, Sin, Salvation), an emphasis on the importance of Love. Moral guidelines to live an easier trouble free life based on the culture from which the religion comes. An afterlife (of sorts), A Diety(ies), and rites and rituals to mark the passage of life.

We are fighting to the death over peas and carrots, when we should help the whole world better cultivate her vegitables!

I do think my religion (paganism) is right - but that doesn't mean that other religions are wrong. Religion is like a road, and you can stray off it, wander around several roads, whatever. But in the end, they all lead to the same destination: unity with that which is Greater.

Some people feel more comfortable driving down a highway. Some people like traveling back roads. It doesn't matter what route you take, so much as which destination you're going to.

    1 TIMOTHY 3:15

But if I am delayed, I write so that you may know the right and proper way to conduct yourself in THE HOUSE OF YAHWEH, who are the called out ones of the living Father, the pillar and ground of the truth.

Psa 119:142 Your righteousness is an everlasting righteousness, and Your LAW IS THE TRUTH!!!

Prov 6:23 For the commandment is a lamp, and the law is light.

Isa 8:20 To the law and to the prophecy: if they speak not according to this word, it is because there is no light in them.

    Revelation 22:14--

BLESSED ARE THOSE WHO KEEP HIS LAWS, THAT THEY MAY HAVE RIGHT TO THE TREE OF LIFE, and may enter in through the gates into the city.

    Romans 2:13—

For not the hearers of the Law are the righteous in the sight of Yahweh, but the doers of the Law are the righteous.

    ISAYAH 2:2-6

    2. It will come to pass in the last days, that the mountain; promotion, of The House of Yahweh will be established in the chief of the nations, and will be raised above all congregations; and all nations will eventually flow to it.

    3. And many people will go and say; Come, and let us go up to the mountain of Yahweh, to the House of the Father of Yaaqob, and He will teach us of His ways, and we will walk in His paths. For the Law will depart from Zion, and the word of Yahweh will depart from Yerusalem.

    4. He will judge among the nations, and will rebuke many people; they will beat their swords into plowshares, and their spears into pruning-hooks; nation will not lift up sword against nation, neither will they learn war anymore.

Because the scriptures back us up. We recieve the authority from Father Yahweh. We are teaching the Laws of Yahweh as prophesied which according to the scriptures is the Truth. What other religious organization teaches you to LIVE BY THE EVERY WORD OF THE FATHER? Not adding too or taking anything away from? THAT IS HOW YOU KNOW YOU ARE IN THE RIGHT PLACE!!!

The key to your question is the word "know."

An old definition of knowledge is called the tripartite account:

To know X, (for example that 4,294,967,297 is a prime):

    # (1) You must believe X. You would certainly not claim to know that 4,294,967,297 is a prime if you did not believe it.

    # (2) Your belief in X must have justification. If you were purely guessing that 4,294,967,297 is a prime you cannot be said to know it for a fact

    # (3) X must actually be true. You don't know that 4,294,967,297 is a prime if, in fact, it is not.

    1. People obviously believe their religion is right.

    2. some people justify that belief like so

    a. I prayed for the mets to win the 1986 world series and they won. Therefore my god exists and the god of the red sox fans don't.

    3. The real difficulty is that truth can only hold for at most one of the religions. One way to tackle truth is told by Sherlock Holmes that "when you have eliminated the impossible, whatever remains, however improbable, must be the truth."

So one way to know the right religion is to find flaws with other religions and eliminate the ones that don't make sense to you.

For example. I don't believe in an all powerful, all good god. because I believe in the existence of evil. An all powerful god can destroy evil and an all good god wants to destroy evil. yet at least one evil exist( torturing babies).

I also don't believe in a god that answers all the prayers of their followers. see 2a above.

I also don't believe in a good god that sends you to burn in hell forever for shoplifting because I do not believe in cruel and unusual punishment.

You must question all religions and find truth for yourself.

I will never say that about my religion. A major part of the Wiccan religion is to know that all religious paths are valid paths to God and entirely a personal choice. There's no "right" religion for all of humankind, just like there's no "right" way to dance or paint, or make music.

i am not going to tell you that my religion is the only right one.

    it's just right for me.

you just need to search until you find something that is right for you. if you are turned off by "the big three" you might want to check out the earth religions. pagans are a pretty laid back group. (at least all the ones that i've met).

find something that resonates with your soul. even if you choose to be an atheist it doesn't matter as long as that's what you believe.

    good luck

    blessed be

Well, first I do not appreciate being told how I can or cannot answer a question. Second, religion is a subjective thing. It is many things to all but all to only a few. Each person has to choose for themselves what religion is the one for them and no one can speak for anyone else as to why the other person chose a specific one. For myself, I am Christian because I believe Jesus gave his life that I could have salvation and I believe I am alive today because of my faith. That is enough for me. That will not be true of everyone else, or even all other Christians.

I feel that there is no one religion that is the right one, but that the fact that you have faith in something strives you to be a better person. Where people go wrong with religion is when they consider themselves better than others because of it.

Well None are right or wrong to people who don't Believe. It all depends on what you BELIEVE. Your Faith, in Your God, and where you came from, and your purpose here on Earth. There isn't a right religion. I know everyone thinks theirs is right, but that's because thats where their beliefs are.

If you aren't religious, then research all of them and based off of your feelings/thoughts, you'll pick one that's right for you.

I'm Christian. I believe in Jesus, and everything else in the Bible. That's just me. I don't like to pressure people or make them think that Christianity is the RIGHT way, even though that's how I personally feel.
