“Satan is other force within me. God rules my soul, however if I allow myself for just one second to relax from my convictions, the other force jumps at the opportunity to vie for control.”

Let me put ths in lamence terms. Lucifer was an Archangel just like Michel. well God gave the angel the same choice he gave us. Follow Him or don't. Well Lucifer thought that he was as powerful as God. So he rebelled and said that he won't follow. many more agreed and they were cast into hell. The name devil is just a name we made up. Satan is the name he got after he was cast into hell.
lucifer means bringing light. thats what he was suposed to do as an angel. Satan means deicever because if you know the Adam and Eve story, you know that that is what he did to Eve. Devil means liar and well being the devil he was the first liar and he suports lying.

Rev 20:2 And he laid hold on the dragon, that old serpent, which is the Devil, and Satan, and bound him a thousand years,
Rev 20:3 And cast him into the bottomless pit, and shut him up, and set a seal upon him, that he should deceive the nations no more, till the thousand years should be fulfilled: and after that he must be loosed a little season.

legion was the number of demons in the man that left and went in to the herd of swine not Satan . for Satan was god right hand man so to say he sit on the right side of the throne he was the most beautiful angel in heaven and did something with music but he wanted what god had and thought he could do it better so god kick him out of heaven and a third of the angels with him . but then again it was all part of gods master plain that he had you cant have one without the other like yin and yang so to speak. Satan is the one that temps you to sin and get as far away from god as he can get you . study the bible

Those names belong to the entity that holds the infamous title of Prince of this Earth. Lucifer was the angel of music who decided he could run Heaven more efficiently and decided to try to overthrow the management. He lost and is now essentially the janitor here. However, he has signed up for a rematch and I believe most of the bets have already been placed on the outcome of it as well. It doesn't appear to look good for him. Odds are definately not in his favor.

Devil means liar since he was the original liar
Satan means deceiver since deceived eve
Lucifer describes his position when he was an Angel of Gods he was the angel of morning or light
there are many terms for Satan the devil but wouldn't want people to call you something else other than liar and deceiver.

Satan the Devil
Definition: The spirit creature who is the chief adversary of God and of all who worship the true God. The name Satan was given to him because of his becoming a resister of God Satan is also known as the Devil, because he is the foremost slanderer of God. Satan is described as the original serpent, evidently because of his using a serpent in Eden to deceive Eve, and for this reason “serpent” came to signify “deceiver.” In the book of Revelation, the symbolism of a devouring dragon is also applied to Satan.
How can we know whether such a spirit person really exists?
The Bible is the chief source of evidence. There he is repeatedly referred to by name (Satan 52 times, Devil 33 times). Eyewitness testimony as to Satan’s existence is also recorded there. Who was the eyewitness? Jesus Christ, who lived in heaven before coming to earth, repeatedly spoke of that wicked one by name.—Luke 22:31;

Question: "Is the devil / Satan a person or a force / personification of evil?"
Answer: Although he has persuaded many people in our modern world that he doesn't even exist, Satan very definitely is a real, personal being, the fountainhead of all unbelief and of every kind of moral and spiritual evil in the world. He is called by various names in the Bible, including Satan (meaning, “adversary”—Job 1:6; Romans 16:20; etc.), the devil (i.e., “slanderer”—Matthew 4:1; 1 Peter 5:8; etc.), Lucifer (Isaiah 14:12), the serpent (2 Corinthians 11:3; Revelation 12:9; etc.), and many others.
To the Christian, the existence of Satan as a real person is proved by the fact that the Lord Jesus Christ recognized him as such. He referred to him frequently by name (e.g., Luke 10:18; Matthew 4:10; etc.), and indeed called him “the prince of this world” (John 12:31; 14:30; 16:11).
The Apostle Paul called him the “god of this world” (2 Corinthians 4:4) and the “prince of the power of the air” (Ephesians 2:2). The Apostle John said “the whole world lieth in the wicked one” (1 John 5:19) and that he is the one “which deceiveth the whole world” (Revelation 12:9).
The Scriptures teach that, before man and the world were made, God had created an “innumerable company of angels” (Hebrews 12:22), a heavenly host of spiritual beings, of great strength and intelligence. The highest of these beings are the cherubim, who are attendants at the very throne of God, and the “anointed cherub that covereth” that throne was originally Satan himself (Ezekiel 28:14). He was “full of wisdom and perfect in beauty.”
God did not create Satan as an evil being. However, the angels, like man, were created as free spirits, not as unthinking machines. They were fully able to reject God’s will if they should choose to do so.
The root of all sin, in both man and angels, is the twin sin of unbelief and pride—the refusal to submit to God’s will as revealed by His own Word and the accompanying assertion of self-sufficiency which enthrones the creature and his own will in the place of God. This was the original sin of Satan, rejecting God’s Word and trying to become God himself. He said in his heart: “I will ascend into heaven, I will exalt my throne above the stars of God: . . . I will be like the most High” (Isaiah 14:13,14).
Jesus also told us of some of the characteristics of Satan. Christ said he was a murderer from the beginning, not holding to the truth, for there is no truth in him, and that when he speaks he lies, he speaks his native language, for he is a liar and the father of lies (John 8:44).
It is very crucial that Christians realize the reality of Satan in this world and that he prowls around like a roaring lion looking for someone to devour (1 Peter 5:8). It is impossible to overcome sin and temptation from the devil by ourselves, but Scripture tells us how be strong. We need to put on the full armor of God daily to be able to stand our ground against temptation (Ephesians 6:13). Jesus also demonstrated how to overcome the lies and temptations of Satan, when Satan tried to tempt Jesus, as recorded in Matthew, Mark and Luke.

They are all one and the same, just with various titles and names. It is the devil the Bible tells us about, the one that was cast out of Heaven, and is now trying to take everyone with him to where he knows he is going. HELL
Short answer, especially for me, but there you go. WE just know he is the one we never hear or obey. no matter what you call him. There are other Bible names for him too, but all point to the same person. the one against God set out to destroy mankind..... thats all we need to know.Source(s): God
