Any ideas for controlling sauerkraut smell while cooking?

One suggestion I heard one time was put one piece of celery in the pan but I don't think that helped at all.

FIRST, rinse the sauerkraut in water before you cook it.

SECOND, add a chopped apple to the sauerkraut when you cook it.

I usually don't smell it when i cook it that way, but then again, it is kraut.

Put in chunks of celery and a few sliced apples and a handful of caroway seeds. Adds to the flavor too.

There is no way!! I suggest you pass out clothespins for everyone to put on their noses during the cooking process!
