Let me be the one to say it:

    $250 FOR A GIFT FOR A 9 YEAR OLD?!?!?!

Come on now! And you know that won't be the only thing you get him! So what will you get him NEXT year? Or when he's 16?

OK, jumping off my soapbox now. Maybe the little green monster got ahold of me. I don't know.

    Merry Christmas!

YES! YES! YES! I am a teacher who owns a Wii and I would say that it is by far the best system available for any age group right now. It has a great variety of games that appeal to all age levels. I also appreciate that Nintendo does not make some of the more gory games, such as Grand Theft Auto and Gears of War. The Wii will allow your son to play games that are both physically and mentally challenging, without introducing him to the bad influences of sex and violence that are unfortunately found in so many of today's video games. I also appreciate the Wii's possibilities for fostering positive social skills. Many of the Wii games are meant to be played in groups that incorporate both gamers and non-gamers. The Wii is a system that the whole family can enjoy. This is a great thing when you contrast the group play of Wii with the "Mom, get out of the way, I'm playing!" that other consoles often incite.

Here are some suggestions for age-appropriate games that I believe your son would find enjoyable:

Wii Sports (bundled with console, great group game)

The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess

    Monkeyball:Banana Blitz (great group game)

    Elebits (coming soon)

Rayman: Raving Rabbids (great group game)

The Nintendo Wii would the best choice for a 9 yr. old out of the 3 major consoles. It is way cheaper and the new style controller promotes your son to be active while playing games. Also, you can download over 20 years of prior Nintendo classics so he can enjoy all the games us older generations enjoyed.

Any and all Nintendo products are directed towards kids between 5-15 basically. Nintendo has geared their company towards kids ever since the NES in 1983 and has never changed it. Kids make toys sell not the adults. I am 25 years old now and my parents got me every nintendo system made since the 1983 NES which I still own and use from time to time. I bought myself a Wii on November 19th and it is my favorite system out of my ps2 and my Xbox. Nintendo DS is a fun system to for elementry age kids but more of a system for them to learn on their own and easier. I would suggest a Wii if you or a older relative want to sit down and play with him and help him. If not then I would suggest a Nintendo Ds since they are easier to firgure out.

It truly is, I own a WII, even though I am 20 I thourghly enjoy it. The WII was specifically desgined for people who have never played games and kids. Even though there are games for teens or adults, many of the games are for kids. It is the best system for a kid of that age, PS3 or Xbox 360 are for more mature kids and their games reflect that.

Definitely. Boys at that age will be very enthralled by the interactive controls for the Wii. It is a good buy.
