My parents were both democrats. I enlisted into the Navy and was sent to the Marine Corps where I worked spec. ops for years. I was influenced by both Ron Reagan and Bill Clinton. Being at the becon call of both of those presidents, I quickly learned who was REALLY looking out for the welfare of the nation and who was in it purely for himself.
I am a conservative.Source(s): Remember Bosnia, Somalia and Al Qaeda.

My political views were influenced by Thomas Payne, Washington, Lincoln, Grant, Sherman, TR, FDR, Kennedy, Nixon,Clinton, Reagan and certainly George W Bush. I once voted Republican, but am now a staunch democrat, due mostly to the last influence on my list.

Yes, for sure I have changed 180 degrees. My parents influenced me in the beginning but after I got away from home I stated thinking a lot more about things.
I was a Republican for years but I just think they are totally off on the wrong foot now and so I am a Democrat or Independent.

When I was younger, I looked up to my mother. I have changed multiple times throughout the years. Although, I make my own decisions now, my mom and I agree sometimes. I just look at their views and get any history of their views and if I have a good or bad feeling about them.

All the great Democrats like FDR and Truman. I have done a move to the slightly-right-of center over the decades as the programs these great men created for public welfare have backfired - in short, Communism is not possible because of corruption. That's why I am a capitalist - why should the government be my source of welfare when it should be myself thru my own actions?

My parents, education, and personal reading/research. My views have only solidified, although I will admit that I have become more socially liberal (for example, I have no problem with gays etc).
I no longer turn to my parents for political information; my father died and my mother has turned into a flaming liberal (turns my tummy!!).
Now I watch the news, listen to the radio, read non-fiction, and read magazines and news online to form opinions and get the facts.

i'm fifty two. an exciting question. My rocket scientist - MIT graduate Dad raised me as a Democrat. yet he replaced into no liberal - extra of a Patriot than any of the Bush's. A usa flag has flown from his domicile my finished existence. I joined the army our of highschool in 1978 and that i'm on energetic accountability on the instant. As an 18 12 months previous i could in no way vote Republican. As a 32 year previous I voted for Bush elder. As a fifty two year previous i could slit my wrists previously voting Republican returned. i'm fifty two, I honestly have worked my yet off for 34 years, love my usa, jumped out of Airplanes and graduated Ranger college with a Tab. i'm no longer able to stand pretend individuals who've been conned to vote Republican to help the wealthy get richer and help the poor get poorer. i'm deploying, serving my usa, and have faith interior the american way and that i whilst i will restrain myself from violence and have faith the purpose of my activity and the army is to make certain risk-free practices, stability and peace. So I honestly have replaced. i've got faith Democrats like FDR, Truman, JFK and Clinton have geared up our usa. I nevertheless can assist a Republican who helps our military and our usa like George Senior, yet we are no longer there on the instant. So whilst i've got faith i'm plenty extra sensible, i do no longer think of i'm politically different from whilst i replaced into 18.
