How do I "tag" my gmail address for use with 1-off company registrations?

I recently read an article that specified a way to use my existing gmail address to "tag" the email for use in specifying who I used it with. It was something like this "%kenwood%rawb44@gmail.com. (Where the prefix %kenwood% would be ignored by gmail) This would allow me to identify which people are abusing my email address and selling and or transferring my ID without my consent. Can anyone help?

I have to tell you that using % does not work ( I checked it a minute ago ). For what you want use + like this : username+other@gmail.com and everything from the + to @ will be ignored. After that in Gmail create a filter and put the special address in the "To" field and that decide what to with the messages ( archive, move to Trash, apply a label.....).
