How do you know more than a scientists?

If the majority of scientists believe in evolution, I'm inclined to live under the assumption that evolution is true. There is SO much to learn from biology and paleontology. It takes decades. How can you say it's all false when you haven't spent more than a few years studying it.

Christians do not deny science.. just we know that scientists are men and in figuring out the sciences, men have screwed up time and time again. We know gravity exists and there is a science to it, but not long ago scientists believed we were PUSHED to the Earth, but now they believe we are PULLED to the Earth. Since man's theories on how things work and develop change frequently, we cannot hold them as "truth" or "fact". What we know is a fact concerning Evolution is that humans, plants, animals and basically everything else, changes over time. No one refutes that. However, we have not seen any evidence of one thing changing into a completely other thing. Example: In the Evolution theory, it is believed that birds evolved from lizards. Birds and lizards are completely different animals and there is no fossil record or any record of this ever happening, so... it cannot be called a "fact" if there is no evidence to prove it.

No doubt there is SO much to learn from all these sciences but, many theories cannot be proven. It works the same way on the other side. Thousands of different theologies have come to light from people who have studied faith and religion for years. Who was it that determined that science was more important than spirituality? But, because there are so many different theologies (theories about God) many of you choose to not believe in God because of it.

Creationists believe that everything was created in 6 days just like it says in the Bible and that evidence of evolution was put here by the Devil to confuse us into being non-believers. 6 days is convenient as, after all, why would G-- take longer than that? Well, I've been to the Galapagos and Darwin was onto something. So, to believe in evolution, to the creationist, is an affront to the Bible. Balderdash!! That's like saying don't study medicine because disease is a trick and G-- will take care of you. Well, he doesn't and people die every day from disease. Maybe the answer is that G-- set everything in motion and evolution was His way of letting it all shake out. There are plenty of religious scientists out there and they're working on theory borne of empirical evidence; not blind faith.

Much to be learned from biology, paleontology, etc. But not to be taken "without a grain of salt"; not to be taken unquestioningly.

Much such research is done based on certain premises. Are those premises correct?

Evolutionists often depend on "theories of evolution" and some might actually fashion "missing links" to fit the theories, even if no "missing links" have been found.

YOU say you are "inclined to live under the assumption that evolution is true" and may evolutionists seem "inclined to live under the assumption that" their theories of evolution are true.

Especially when "studying it" consists of reading all the anti-evolution literature you can find. Here's an excellent site for learning some basic factual information about evolution, so you at least know what you are talking about, and don't end up saying absurd things like "scientists think humans evolved from monkeys", or "humans and dinosaurs existed at the same time".

Don't you realize for the religious if their preacher says something then that is just like the words of God! After all the last thing any of them will ever dare to do is think for themself!

Why else would so many use the excuse of well it's a matter of faith! Crap! Faith is nothing more then religious conditioning! You are told to think a certain way or a loving God will torture you forever so they do! They do not question their bible, church or God! Not because they love any of them but only because they want to protect the four point contact!

What is not to understand? They have a monopoly on truth based on a book written long ago by men who thought the world was flat and disease is caused by demons. Not only that, they believe it is a violation of their rights if they are denied the opportunity to use the coercive power of the state to shove their superstitious beliefs down every ones throat. We just have to marginalize them, which may mean an all out war against institutionalized stupidity.

I just try to remember that scientists, like Doctors are humans, make mistakes and opinion personal opinion plays a part in all of it. I am a believer in creation, however. I have a great deal of respect and admiration for anyone who spends years of their life studying.

The majority of scientist believe the theory to be flawed.

Einstein, Newton, and others were agnostic, believing in the possibility of the existence of God, and creation. Even Darwin later renounced it. Check out the answers on this previous question.

Oh sure the "majority" do, but what about the 7% that believe in god (and perhaps evolution too)? Let's not rule them out. Even if they are not the biologists.

i am a christian but i still believe in evolution. Not believing in evolution is just plain ignorance. i believe God planted the seeds for life to happen but evolution is how we came to be
