A soccer player kicks a ball into the air at an angle of 36.0 degrees above the Horizontal. The initial velocity is 30 m/s. How long is the ball in the air? How high does it rise? What is the Horizontal distance?

Relevance

initial vertical velocity = 30 sin 36.0 degrees = 17.6 m/s

v = u + at

0 = 17.6 + (-9.81)t

t = 1.794 s

time that the ball is in the air = 1.794*2 = 3.588s (since it takes the same time for the ball to rise up to max height and for the ball to fall from the ground to max height )

s = (17.6)(1.794) + (0.5)(-9.81)(1.794^2)

s = 15.85 m

the ball rises to 15.85 m

horizontal distance = 24.27(3.588) = 87.08 m
