The Pure Prairie League sings the song "Amy". The lyrics are as below. The official website is located at www.pureprairieleague.com
I can see why you think you belong to me
I never tried to make you think, or let you see one thing for yourself
But now your off with someone else and I'm alone
You see I thought that I might keep you for my own
Amy what you wanna do?
I think I could stay with you
For a while, maybe longer if I do
Don't you think the time is right for us to find
All the things we thought weren't proper could be right in time
And can you see
Which way we should turn together or alone
I can never see whats right or what is wrong
(cause it'll take to long to see)
Amy what you wanna do?
I think I could stay with you
For a while, maybe longer if I do
(Acoustic solo)
Well now
Amy what you wanna do?
I think I could stay with you
For a while, maybe longer if I do
Now it's come to what you want you've had your way
And all the things you thought before just faded into gray
And can't you see
That I don't know if it's you or if it's me
If it's one of us I'm sure we'll both will see
So take a good long look and tell me
Amy what you wanna do?
I think I could stay with you
For a while, maybe longer
Longer if I do
Yeah now
Amy what you wanna do?
I think I could stay with you
For a while, maybe longer if I do
I keep
Fallin' in and out of love with you
Fallin' in and out of love with you
Don't know what I'm gonna do, I keep
Fallin' in and out of love
With you

Actually, the name is Amie and it is from 72 on the Pure Prairie League BUSTIN' OUT album recorded in Toronto from June 19 to August 7,1972. The cover is in my lap now :) We can hear a number of performers who have recorded the song over the years, but Ppl appears to be the source. The album overall is quite good with talented artists.

I was only about 23 yrs old then........... the chord structure was Dm7th/ AM/ Em tough enuff to be a 3 chord hiill person or rock song huh? as most of the 3 chord wonders were either hill person/ wanna be rock or crossover which started in the early70s.. but in all honesty it was a great vocal song with alot of thought....... - 7 years ago
the song amie was co-written and sung by craig fuller. it is correct that vince gill was a little kid when the song was recorded. a lot of people make the same mistake about vince because he joined pure prairie league in the 80,s and performed the song then. craig fuller later did a couple tours with little feat ,a band known for the best live album ever recorded (in the days before founder lowell george passed away) that album was waiting for columbus.

Pure Prarie League with Vince Gill did the song, and the name of the song is "AMIE".
