What's the name of the famous photographer who did a bunch of black and white photographs with a picture of an

ocean superimposed over a ceiling. He also did a really famous photograph of trees hovering in mid-air.

Are you looking for Jerry Uelsmann? Argueably the best photo-composite photographer ever.

the main reason is the fact that most of the famous photographers were taking their pictures before the invention of colour film. Or atleast affordable colour film. The second reasons is black and white photography makes you double take on your photography techniques while out shooting. It makes you think more about your composition, subject and your exposure times. From experiance I have found black and white photography allot harder than colour. Allot of people think a picture will just look good when converted to black and white. thats wrong. you have to go and and shoot in black and white. Other wise your photos will not look natural. Black and white photography is allot harder to master than colour! In my opinion anyway.
