what is fringe capacitance?
i m writting one paper on Modeling of interconnect capacitance in MOSFET. for this paper i need some more information about fringe capacitance....

Fringe capacitance is probably the capacitance due to the stray electric fields at the edges of a capacitor. Think of the parallel plate capacitor, where the electric field lines in the center are straight. The edges of the plates have fringing fields. The capacitance due to the field at the edges is the fringe capacitance. In the case of interconnect capacitance, the metal lines on the chip will cross over each other and form parallel plate capacitors, with edges.Source(s): http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Capacitor look at some high frequency circuit board layout books, there should be a good diagram. An introductory physics book would also give an explanation of capacitance, starting from an infinite length parallel plate, then adding edge effects.

it locates between the gate's fringing wall and the drain's or source's elcetron .there is a electric field and can store Q.
Another explanation is the tip of some object ,because of its shape ,it can store Q in the tip.

what u think of metal oxide semiconductor field effect transistors?
