APA Format - Can I type a sentence/list and then end it with etc?

Easy 10 points!

I'm writing an essay and I have to use APA format. I'm listing out things, so can I use etc?

For example:

........apples, oranges, pears, grapes, etc.

I know this is probably a stupid question, but you never know...

No. Instead, I would suggest something like this:

The grocer will be able to carry an assortment of fruits, including but not limited to pears, oranges, strawberries, and plums.

Do not use it etc. in formal writing (well, this is only according to my current teacher so I don't know).
