Check out the Archos av500, and the rest of the Archos line. Not only will it let you record directly off of your television, but it has a huge LCD screen compared to an Ipod, and is highly rated as the best MP4 player available! Plus, you can still store music and pictures on it, and you can hook it up to another TV and watch your movies on this 2nd TV! Also, did I mention that it can record from any DVD, even the ones with Macrovision encryption! This means that you can record ANYTHING on it that you want! The 30 GB model (they also have a 100GB model as well) will let you record about 40 hours of video in DVD quality or 120 Hours at about VHS quality! Good Luck!
