what is the difference between cisco pix and checkpoint?

pix is a hardware with a simple gui to configure it. but checkpoint is a software as well as hardware with a linux kenrel .the configuration is really very difficult rather then pix. but the checkpoint is better in customizing ur security.

Different manufacturers, simliar capabilities. The PIX is a hardware device. Checkpoint is software that you install on a server class machine to make it a dedicated firewall appliance. That's the principal difference.

given a choice use sonicwall appliance
