what is LUMINOUS INTENSITY(mcd)?

I'm looking to buy some LED's online at superbrightleds.com and I want to be able to tell what the brightest leds are.

Is the higher the Luminous Intensity brighter??

    Yes.

    Light intensity is often measured in units known as candelas. This used to be called candlepower, and one candlepower was the amount of light shining one foot away from a candle. If you cast one candela on one square foot of area, you now have one lumen - the root of the term luminous. Your units (mcd) are millicandelas. For far more detail, see the link below:
