Have you ever known of a cold to cause the runs?

My buddy is about a week into her cold, and has had diarrhea for the past couple days. Could it be from her cold?

Yeah, but she might want to go to the doc with it if she continues with the diarrhea. She might get dehydrated.

infection causes diarrhea. So she must have a infection. That is the only the body can flush it out, that and blowing it out of your nose.

  • Generally, no.

Sounds like your friend may have the flu.

According to the Center for Disease Control, "symptoms, such as nausea, vomiting, and diarrhea. . .can occur [with the flu] but are more common in children than adults". However, such symptoms are not listed under the description of a common cold.

Probably not. She may also have a virus. Only a doctor can tell for sure: does she have a temperture, what does her tongue and throat look like, how does the abdomen feel? If she has had diarrhea for 3 days or more she should call the doctor promptly.

Or it could be from whatever she's taking to alleviate the cold's symptoms. Even too much orange juice can irritate a stomach (it's the acidity).

Yes it can. If she is on any medications, especially antibiotics, that causes diarrhea. Also strep can show up this way as well.
