What is crankshaft belt?

I have a 98 volvo and is the crankshaft belt and

timing belt one of the same, how much is the

part more or less. Tks

A crankshaft belt, could be a balance belt, but is just a guess. Most likely is the timing belt. Best to check with an autoparts store, for pricing.

A crankshaft belt and a "timing belt" are typically the same thing. However, some cars may have both, a timing belt [to drive the cams] and a crankshaft chain [to drive the timing belt]. As to the cost of the parts, its best to call the local dealership for parts and labour. Also call a local independent shop that deals with Volvo's and see how the two shops compare.

has to be the timing belt!!! there is nothing called the crankshaft belt. price range (35-60) dollars should do it.good luck,
