    Mary was the first Christian

Her parents were Anne & Joachim

(see isis and the other who posted realistic things)

she was visited by an angel and the Holy Spirit overshadowed her to create the child Jesus inher womb

she was a loving member of her family

she was dedicated to her son - she is with Him throughout the bible

She was a mom to the enth degree

She was chosen by God to mother His Only Child -- she humbled herself before God and dedicated her life to serving only HIm.

you can find out a lot more in Luke.

one of my favorite quotes about her:

    luke 2:35

any thy own soul a sword shall pierce, that the thoughts of many hearts may be revealed.

Jesus's last action on the cross was being pierced by a sword. that final acceptance of death was the conclusion, the opening of the heavens. i believe with that pierce of Jesus also reached out through to Mary, not literally but figuratively as is denoted in Luke.

Mary was the daughter of Heli, wife of Joseph.

Mary was of the tribe of Judah and a descendant of King David.

About the end of 3 B.C.E., the Bible says an angel visited Mary in the town of Nazareth.

He told her she would conceive and give birth to a son.

Mary, who at the time was only engaged to Joseph, asked,

“How is this to be, since I am having no intercourse with a man?”

The angel explained matters were to take place in an exceptional fashion.

    Mary agreed.

Since Joseph is mentioned less and less, it is assumed Mary became a young widow.

Mary was standing alongside the torture stake when Jesus was impaled.

The last Biblical notice of Mary shows her to be a woman of faith and devotion still closely associated with other faithful ones after the ascension of Jesus.

Mary was a simple woman, she was not a member of "higher" society. She was betrothed to Joseph when she began to carry the child Jesus. She was believed by many Scholars to have been about the age of 14 at the time. She was a virgin when she became pregnant with Jesus. She was a very devout woman who loved God very much. She found favor with God and was chosen to be the vessel of the birth of the Messiah. Mary knew who Jesus was, she raised him the best a woman of her stature could do, She was witness to many of the miracles that he performed. And she was witness to his crusifixion. She was also there when he arose.

She was a "mother" figure to the Apostles as well as to many people that Jesus dealt with and that followed after him.

She was a decendant of the House of David which was also a fulfillment of prophecy.

Mary was a good woman, she loved and was loved by many people. She was not however "holy" nor "devine" she was highly favored by God. But we are told no where in the scriptures that she is holy.... we are not told to worship her.... she is not a co-redemptress with Christ as many people believe and teach. There is NO scriptural backing for this belief.

Mary lived a very good life, She believed in who Jesus was, and loved him and supported him probably more than any other human that has ever lived.

One day I will meet Mary in glory with the Lord... and I will be honored to be treated as a Brother for all eternity.

    God bless you :)

There isn't much about her in the Bible. All it says is that she was a virgin who found favor with god and was given the priviledge of carrying god's son.

She was later given the status of a mother goddess, particularly by the Catholics, who pray to her even to this day. Her prayer, the Hail Mary, is one of the major prayers in the rosary. ("Hail Mary, full of grace, the Lord is with thee. Blessed are thou among women and blessed is the fruit of thy womb, Jesus. Holy Mary, Mother of God, pray for us sinners now and at the hour of our death. Amen.") There are legends of her intercepting and softening God's wrath upon humanity.

She is also considered to be without sin, but it wasn't always this way. Back in the days when the gospels were written, human reproduction was a mystery. People believed that a child was solely a man's sperm. The woman just provided the nurturing place for it to grow. Hence, a woman supposedly had no real link to her children. They only belonged to the man. So, in the nativity story, the child Mary carried was all God's. He wasn't even half human. However, when it was discovered later on that the female contributes half of a child's genetic material, the church was very quick to declare that Mary had been born without sin. This is known as the Immaculate Conception.

God said Mary was blessed among women, but that is all she was.

Other than being the mother of Jesus, she was just a another sinner, as we all are, needing the salvation of Jesus to get into Heaven.

She is not to be prayed to, for Jesus said if we want anything, we are to pray to the Father in His (Jesus) name.

Praying to Mary is a sin.

She was a young Jewish woman from the backwaters of her society who had a baby she named Jesus. This child later came to be thought of as the Messiah by many Jews and the Christian religion was developed around him. We know nothing else definitively about her except that she had other children. We are told that she was with Jesus when he died. Many strange myths have arisen about her (perpetual virginity, virgin birth etc) designed to separate her from being a sexual being. She was made a major icon of the faith by the Christians once they became the state religion of Rome. Today many people still claim to have seen her in apparitions, much as they did for the old goddesses of Greece and Rome. She was probably a very ordinary woman with a great deal of courage. She deserves our respect and worship, not because of all of the myths about her, but because she embodies the spiritual strength of all women.

Before Jesus, virgin Marry was a very religious Jew. Her ant's husband Zakareya (a prophet of God) didn't have any children. Each time he goes into her room he finds food. So he ask her where did you get that? She answered it is from God. There Zakareya (I don't know what you call him in English) asked God for a child (hoping as relidious as Marry). God inspired him that he will have a son named Yehia (also a prophet and Jesus cousin). The Angel Gabrial (the Holy Spirit) appeared to her in the form of a man. She was scared and told him "Leave me be if you fear God" He answered" I am a messenger of God and I came to give you a child" She asked " How can I have a child when no one touched me?" He said "That is what God said. If He wants something He says BE and there it is." And Gabriel continued telling Marry about the child and how he will talk to people as a baby and as young boy, how he will be obediant and nice to her. The new religion and the miricales that he will preform with the permission of God. It is also mentioned that God chose virgin Marry twice out of many women in the world. When she felt the delivery pain she went to deliver the child alone away from the eyes of the people. Under the pulm tree she prayed "I hope I died before that day (assuming the shame she's about to face with her people). At that moment Jesus came out and said to her: "Don't be affraid nor sad, your God made uner youu a great person. Push the palm tree it will let its dates for you and go to your people and make signs for them that your fasting today and you can't talk" And she did and he talked to the people.

she is the mother of Jesus who is considered one of the most important prophets of Islam.

quran respected her as a mother of jesus

the nineteenth chapter of the Qur'an is named after her and is about her life.

According to the Qur'an, Mary's father was Nabi Imran and her mother is unnamed

The mother of Mary, said: "O my Lord! I do dedicate into Thee what is in my womb for Thy special service: So accept this of me: For Thou hearest and knowest all things." (Qur'an 3:35). When Mary was delivered, she said: "O my Lord! Behold! I am delivered of a female child!" (Qur'an 3:36). She had expected her baby to be a male child

The Qur'an quite decisively declares that Jesus was the result of a virgin birth

Sura 5 Signs 116-119 of The Qur'an includes the Prophecy of the Judgement Day where "Jesus son of Mary" will be questioned by God as regards those who worship him and Mary, and that Jesus will deny them

Holy Virgin Mary is regarded as the best woman that ever came on the face of the Earth. There are several verses in the Quran that praise her and confirm that she was an extremely chaste and pious woman. Mary is also the Queen of All Women in Heaven.

hope this helps :) good luck
