Were there other people living in Europe before the Indo-Europeans came?

    There is a good Wikipedia article on the history of Ukraine, and it's settlement, that is pretty accurate: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ukrainians

    You have a rich culture, and you should locate some older Ukrainians that can discuss the history of your heritage.

    It is interesting to note that although men have always been the figureheads of Ukraine, the women have always been the backbone of it's survival.

    Indo-European is a term dealing with the earliest language of which most European languages (Basque is the exception) come from. It is not an ethnic/geneological term.
