SWOT stands for Strengths, Weaknesses, Opportunities and Threats. To do one on a company like Nike, you need to take a look at their position in the market-what share of the market they are operating in do they currently command? You might try different business journals to figure that out. You can look at their financials-how are they performing relative to market expectations-Wall Street Journal and the like will help with that. Look at their competition-who new is coming into the sports apparel market and how might they threaten Nike's position in the market? You can look at their marketing-is the message getting out to the people who need to see it-advertising journals help with that type of research. Once you gather all of that, pick out the areas where they are doing well (Strengths), the areas that need improvement (Weaknesses), places where they can exploit new markets, etc. (Opportunities) and new competition coming in as well as general business drivers not going in their favor (Threats).
