    i'm not sure i get what it's asking for, but 90 is the number you start with and 16 is what you end with and the % is what you are trying to find

    What you are saying is (as you have worded the question) - if you do a test of 90 questions and get 16 right - what percentage did you get? That is 16/90 X 100 to get a percentage. This is 17.7777 repeating which would round off to 18%, as this is not one of the multiple choices then the only thing to assume is that the question is worded incorrectly.

    Divide 16 by 90 then move the decimal point to places to the left

    let 16 be x% of 90

    the equation 90*x/100=16

    x=1600/90=160/9=17 7/9%

    i get roughly 17%. i was taught "is over of", so 16 is what percent of 90, 16 over 90= .17777777778. then multiply by 100 17.7777777778%

    90 ------ 100%

    16 ------- 100 multiply 16 divided by 90

    = 17.7777777%

    you need to see a tutor. Or get extra help from your teacher. The whole of the problem is the number that you are trying to take the percent from.
