This seriously ticked me off when I heard it. I was SO mad. I haven't been a huge Rush Limbaugh fan since my US government teacher in high school made us watch segments of his show, but this just clenched it for me.
First off, Rush shouldn't be judging ANYONE about the medication they may or may not be taking. The man needs to sort out his own drug addiction/dependency issues first.
Second, who is he to say what someone with Parkinson's should or should not act like? MJF has acted in shows like Boston Legal without any indicators of his disease, but how much effort must he have had to put into those performances to mask his illness? He did it for the profession, and for the art. He himself said that doing those scenes was one of the hardest most exhausting things he's ever had to do...Who does Rush think he is saying "it's an act" the way MJF was in the ads? Does Rush have Parkinson's? Is he an expert on the disease? Even folks with the disease have varied levels of affliction. Some may have their symptoms more under control than others, MJF may just not happen to be one of them.
I watched some politcal commentators talking about it on Larry King last night and was t'd off at Rush, I turned to my husband and said, "Rush is such an idiot. I'd never wish this on anyone, but he's such a jackass...I hope he gets Parkinson's, then we'll see how well he's able to "hide" his symptoms, if he's just putting on an act. Then he can have some room to talk. Until then he needs to keep his trap shut and stop knocking those with such a terrible disease."
The man just crossed a very big line....
