4 hours in Vancouver International Airport.?
I have to stay at Vancouver International Airport for 4 hours because of a transit to L.A. Is there a good idea not to be boring.

Bring a good book to read, or buy a magazine.
Walk around the airport and look out the windows.
Play on your PDA, Laptop, or PSP if you have one.
Write made-up stories about the people you see in the airport.
If you had longer, I would say go take a look at the city, it's beautiful, but four hours isn't long enough to do anything like that. Oh well.

It's just cheaper for you to take a plane to Vancouver; board a bus and take the ferry over to the island. That's what a lot of people do go here on the Island. Since it's cheaper to take the ferry instead of taking a plane from Victoria to where ever or from where ever to Victoria. They will take a bus, ferry over to the Vancouver and take a plane. Anywhich way you will end up stopping in Vancouver and you might have a long wait for a 25 minute flight from Vancouver to Victoria. I know I have travel off the island and I have waited up to two hours or more for a transfer fight from Vancouver to Victoria.

Don't bother trying to leave the airport: you're not in Vancouver, you're in Richmond which is pretty damn boring. I suggest making an airport buddy and hang out at one of the cafe things. If Toast! is still there I suggest it.

The last time I was there, there was a little spa / massage place. You could go for a relaxing massage, or a manicure if you're into that kind of thing. If not, either read a book, or try to find someone else who looks bored and start up a conversation. Good Luck!

In addition to these other answers, I will suggest duty free shopping. The main reason is that they are having huge sales on luxury goods and cosmetics (sorry but no special on alcohol) At their Avenue store some luxury watches/handbags/accessories are 30%, 50% off, or more. I doubt Hermes is on sale, but their Burberry might be. Some names to suggest are Fendi, Salvatore Ferragamo, Bally, Cartier...
Lots of skincare and cosmetics are on big sale. When I say big, i do mean BIG! Expect 30~50% off.
The only negative thing about this is the restriction. You must place your duty free purchase in your luggage (to be checked in at US customs) But if you are the best shopper, that hassle is worth it, just bring a bigger suitcase.Source(s): YVR Duty Free, you can call them to verify.

Vancouver airport seems so scenic -- they always had some sort of museum/exhibit that you walked through once you clear customs. You might be able to check that out and there are lots of cafes and bookstores and interesting shops so you should be able to spend your time somewhat occupied.

They have a few shops there. And a restaurant.
