I'm sure that there were nice things he did. But none of that matters much; it is all overshadowed by the horrible and awful things he did

Yes it is true that Hitler was not the nicest person. But he did do some good things. Like in a previous answer he did invent the Autobahn which in term became our highways, and freeways. He also brought a country that was blamed for WW1, and turned into a united country. Just imagine that you are in a country that a basket cost more than a loaf of bread. It would cost 1 million German Marks for one loaf of bread. If it was off of todays exchange rate before the Euro, It would have cost about $50,000 USD. So he took this broken down country and gave its people back their pride. He brought a country out of a depression and brought it back finacially. He ha rebuilt a country that was ravaged by war, and was starving, with political unrest, and broke. He turned into one of the best countries then Military and Finacially. Also some of the military tatics we use today are from his Generals. Like the "Rumsfield Doctrine" that was used during the invasion of Iraq. Well the truth is, is that General Mainstein made that Doctrine up for the invasion of Poland. Plus the doctrine we use for our tanks are from Field Marshell Erwin Rommels tactics in North Africa. So yes, Hitler was an evil man, but some good things did come out of his III Reich. He also put us about 5 years ahead in medical research, with Hypothermia, and Decompression to name a few. True it was the worst way that he did it but he did. The Germans also invented jet power, and well we know how that turned out.

To accurately answer that question, one must understand that no one is either all good or all bad. If HItler did some good things for his country (and I feel that if one does research, there are some good things he did), then he made them virtually ignored on a global scale by his other activities, which remain the focus decades after his death.

I can`t think of one nice thing Hitler has done other than doing everyone a favour when he killed himself

Germany (under the III Reich) was the first western country to introduce animal rights: they've changed very little from those drawn up back then.

He made the trains run on time. Unfortunately, they were running to the death camps.

And he painted some marginal landscapes.

I wouldn't say nice, but he did help invent the orginal "bug" from VW.

Shooting himsself woulda probly been the only nice thing he did.
