My cat eats paper.?

My boyfriend is an architect and he works at home. When he spreads out his plans (blueprint size) my cat sits on top of them and starts ripping them up with his mouth. I have never had a cat do this before. Its like the old saying for kids " The dog ate my homework". Well, my cat at your architect plans, sorry, I will have them to you soon I promise. I need more time. Does any one else have plan and paper eating cats?

Ripping paper (shredding) is fun to a cat it makes noise and all but if your cat is eating it you might want to look at the diet. Sounds silly but I am not kidding your cat may be lacking in fiber. Either take it to the vet or try a new cat food with a higher fiber content.

If the cat is not eating it than try to dedicate a good old newspaper for him/her to shred should sound similar as is plans.

Haha, yes. My cat loves to rip up paper, especially the stuff I need. Christmas morning is like heaven for her. The only thing I can suggest is to keep your cat locked away when your boyfriend is working, or lock up your boyfriend's papers in a room where the cat can't get at them.

Your cat may have to be excluded from where your boyfriend rolls out his plans.

Your cat likes the sound of the paper ripping, perhaps when you lock him away from your boyfriend, give your cat some paper of his own to play with

ha ha ha... that is not as unusual as it first looks. I've seen cats walk over and sit on top of a newspaper someone is reading and rip it with claws and fangs.... my cat used to do that with whatever current book I was reading. It is the cat's way of saying, "Pay attention to ME, and not this stupid thing you're always looking at! It doesn't even purr! I must destroy it or risk being replaced by this stupid thing! I'll never live it down!"

My cat also loves plastic bags, we set up a huge card board box as his bed and he himself has layered it with plastic bags, he licks them and loves to take his paws and make the plastic move so he can hear the rattling. I think its simply adorable. But, don't let your cats eat paper it could make them sick especially with ink on it. Its just something they've taken a liking to I don't think there is anything wrong with the kitty, its no different than a little kid sucking his thumb, no nutritional value or psychological problems its just a habit they develope and all you need to do is discourage it. No big deal, just ask the veterinarian if your worried.

I wish mine only ate paper, he eats plastic bags or anything remotely like a plastic bag-when I come home from shopping he has to sit in the bathroom while I put away groceries or he will try and eat every single bag. He has already eaten the plastic from a cat toy and had to have it surgically removed, that was not fun for him or for me.

My kitten rips my and my boyfriends homework. They are just playing. Get a water bottle and spary your cat and it will know to stop. Spraying a cat is not cruel. But flicking it on the noise and head is cruel.

My cats did this all the time to my homework and I had to start all over again...Just keep them out. Oh and don't they always mangae to lay over everything you need or working on? My cats would chew on my books and lay all over my papers and spawl out on my binder when I was flipping though it. Damn gatos.

My kitties love to rip paper to shreds! Unfortunately, all you can do is get a spray bottle and squirt them each time it starts to get near the paper!
