Mary Magdalene was the first witness to the resurrection of Jesus. (See the 20th Chapter of the Gospel of John).
She was one of Jesus' followers during his ministry, and was present at the cross when he died.
Sometimes she is erroneously identified with the woman in Luke chapter 7 who was a notorious sinner.
The 8th chapter of the Gospel of Luke describes Mary Magdalene as being healed and supporting Jesus' ministry out of her means.
Before the formal canonization process began in the fifteenth century, many saints were proclaimed by popular approval.
It is probably impossible to find the exact date of her canonization but Mary Magdalene has been considered a saint since the first century.
With love in Christ.
