    Not directly to himself... but it can bounce off another player and he can go for it.

    Yes. Brett Favre's first NFL completion was to himself. He threw a pass that was deflected off a defender and caught it.

    It would essentially be registered as a fumble/recovery.

    He can catch his own pass as long as another player touches it first. ... and he catches it past the line of scrimmage.
