Paypal works by allowing you to send and recieve money to and from your bank account or credit/debit card.

You can send money using your credit/debit card and bank account.

You can receive money and then transfer it to your bank account.

Paypal also acts in a similar way to a bank account because you can leave your money there and then collect it at a later date. Or you can leave it and then spend it at a later date.

In order to send money using paypal you must register your card details with them which are then kept on their secure server (unless you have recieved money which you can spend without the need for a card).

Paypal is an online credit card transaction site that allows you to use your credit card to pay for things or to receive payments online (predominantly eBay). You register your email, personal information, and account information. The service is free, but you may also pay for upgraded services.
