If the Texas Chainsaw Massacre was based on Ed Gain in Wesconsin without a chainsaw why is it called TCM?

Saying it was based on a true story made for better box office, Alfred Hitchcocks "Psycho" was based on the same case, and they are equally true to the facts. By the way, his name was Ed Gein. He was also partial inspiration for the "Buffalo Bill" killer in "Silence of the Lambs", that one also drew on Ted Bundy and Gary Hednick.

Because the killer in TCM is actually based on a mixture of serial killers. Ed Gein was just one of them.

This is the deep, philosophical question that many people have spent years trying to decipher. It's like trying to discern the sound of one hand clapping. Meditate upon it.

a) It's Ed Gein, not Gain (that's dish soap)
b) Ed wasn't as violent as this dude, he only killed women and he only killed like 4, the rest he just dug up...
