My vet has a chart for human to dog years and what I discovered is that for the first year of their life it's like seven of ours, but as they age, the ratio drops to something like 4-5 human years to a dogs year.

Go to the vet and see if they have a chart for this and ask for a copy or maybe search for it on the web.

Like most people I thought the same was true, 7 of theirs for one of ours, then I saw the chart at the vets. He also had one for cats and they differ from dogs.

well, it depends on the size of your dog, she could be anywhere from 40 yrs old (for a dog under 20 lbs) up to 49 yrs old (for a dog over 90 lbs). People used to just say that one human year equals 7 dog years, but that isn't very accurate. Here's a chart that will tell you how old your dog is in dog years.

Of course, it depends on how big she is. Smaller dogs tend to live longer than large breed dogs.

According to a formula I found in a dog breed book, your dog is around 42 in human years.

    Dog Age Human Age

    2mos(x7) 14mos

    6mos(x10) 5yrs

    12mos(x14) 14yrs

    18mos(x13.3) 20yrs

    2yrs(x12) 24yrs

    3yrs(x10) 30yrs

    4yrs(x9) 36yrs

    5yrs(x8) 40yrs

    6yrs(x7) 42yrs

    7yrs(x7) 49yrs

    8yrs(x7) 56yrs

    9yrs(x7) 63yrs

The number you multiply by changes after this but I this is where I stopped coppying the formula. I can look it up again to get the rest of it, if anyone is curious. You can e-mail me at blupenguin18@sbcglobal.net.
