I would go to Texas. Great weather, reasonable cost of living and you can absolutely get a GREAT housing value. You pay 1/2 as much for property there as you would in places like Florida, California.

They have their own way of doing things down there that is sort of funny. They are part of the U.S. yet it seems like they are their own country.

It's a great place to be if you have allergies stay near the San Antonio area.

I personnally loved Corpus Christi with it's location on the gulf.

    Sucks during hurricane season though.

If I didn't have kids to care for I would pick up and just drive the whole U.S.A. Park my car where I want and eventually settle in a quiet wooded area with just me and the woods!

I haven't really been to many states but I would have to choose Arizona. Why? Because it is sooo beautiful, the mountains, the sky - I loved it!!
