    The United States of America, also known as the United States, the U.S., the U.S.A., and America, is a country in North America that shares land borders with Canada and Mexico, and a sea border with Russia. Extending from the Atlantic Ocean to the Pacific Ocean, the United States is a federal republic, with its capital in Washington, D.C.

    The present-day continental United States has been inhabited for at least 15,000 years by indigenous tribes.[1] After European exploration and settlement in the 16th century, the English established their own colonies—and gained control of others that had been begun by other European nations—in the eastern portion of the continent in the 17th and early 18th centuries. On July 4, 1776, at war with Britain over fair governance, thirteen of these colonies declared their independence. In 1783, the war ended in British acceptance of the new nation. Since then, the United States of America has more than quadrupled in size: it now consists of 50 states and one federal district; it also has numerous overseas territories.

    At over 3.7 million square miles (over 9.5 million km²), the U.S. is the third or fourth largest country by total area, depending on whether the disputed areas of China are included. It is the world's third most populous nation, with nearly 300 million people

    The United States of America will:

    champion aspirations for human dignity;

    strengthen alliances to defeat global terrorism and work to prevent attacks against us and our friends;

    work with others to defuse regional conflicts;

    prevent our enemies from threatening us, our allies, and our friends, with weapons of mass destruction;

    ignite a new era of global economic growth through free markets and free trade;

    expand the circle of development by opening societies and building the infrastructure of democracy;

    develop agendas for cooperative action with other main centers of global power; and

    transform America’s national security institutions to meet the challenges and opportunities of the twenty-first century.

    I think so, they all seem to be on the same Ignorance Network, and wishuponastar, have you ever stopped to read the classified ads in the newspaper, you know, under HELP WANTED!! Yeah, for the last 8 years that I have read the newspaper, every day, there has not been one day that there wasn't at least 20 different companies looking for employees, and I'm in a very small town, not once has this town run out of employment opportunities, yet the unemployment rate is high, why? Because you American's are LAZY, you don't like to work when you could be making money from the government by sitting in your posterior all day, nuff said?

    No. We don't.

    If you were to spend some time in the US, you might just find that most of the people are upset with what's going on. It shows in Pres. Bush's approval ratings.

    The current administration is making the decisions for us... so don't think we are all happy about that.

    I only agree with the borders part, to some degree.

    We have to slow the entrance of immigrants, only to help the unemployed citizens already living here.

    Americans are people who can spell the word "Should" properly, two out of three times. Not to mention "Iraq", "Wireless", and "writing". Which brings me to my next point; Maybe Yahoo should add a grammar check along with the spell check in the options for posting here. I'm sorry, here I am on my "I'm an American better than you soapbox", what were you trying to portray?

    Let's see:

    I don't care about Iraq (remember the "Q" in Iraq).

    I don't care about Iran.

    I don't care about the borders, Mexicans don't make my life any worse that it is now.

    I know you're all jealous cause you can't have a better country like we have.

    I don't watch TV.

    Got that straight, buddy?

    No because of the fact this isn't any longer attainable. There are way too many variations in each and every geographical area. seem at how diverse western Europe is from jap Europe. Germany is physically powerful and could overtake most of the rustic states yet England is physically powerful too. they gained't be united, no longer all of them besides,

    Why should we pay for their children's education at the expense of our own children being educated in failing schools?

    The other issues are not for this board, so you may want to cast your pearls elsewhere.
