Difference between Philly Brand Cream cheese?

and off brand cream cheese. Can you tell a diffrence?

    The cost. Thats about it. Sometimes you get some good recipes off the Philly containers, though.

    I have never been able to TASTE a difference, but still pay the extra for Philadelphia brand if we will be eating it (cream cheese with raspberry chipolte sauce or bread and butter jalepano's). If I am cooking with it or using it in frosting, I go ahead and use the store brand. My food isn't usually refused, so I'm thinking that store brand is okay.;

    Well, it's probably just in my head, but I have to get the Philly. I'm also from the Philadelphia area, so that probably has a lot to do with it.

    However, I will say that I've tried the low-fat versions of cream cheese...nasty!

    no difference, just the packaging, the food store brands are

    usually made by the same people who make the name brands

    they just package it differently and sell it cheaper.
