All of the Australians playing in the MLB. There's no such thing as varsity baseball here, in fact most schools don't play baseball at all, its cricket or nothing!

Babe Ruth for instance didn't paly or attend High School. He went from boarding school to the Baltimore Orioles (minor league team not the current version) To the Boston Red Sox and than to the New York Yankees and the rest is history.

However most of today players haved played in High School. Since the reliance of Scouts most goes to High School or College to scout young players to draft. Unlike in the past when there multiple independent minor league where most went to scout players. However alot of players from outside the US didn't play in High School but was found in Baseball Camps run much like a Tryouts particulary in Latin America

Jason Bay of the Pirates didn't, because his high school didn't have a baseball team. (He did play in the summers on American Legion teams.)
