how to approximate correlation?
I missed a class in my beginning stats class and know you figure correlation by take y z-score times x z-score and divide by number of observations-1
What i don't get is it seems know like everyone in my class knows a method of approximating this pretty accurately w/o going through all those steps of figuring x-scores then putting them into equation. What are they doing. Can you explain it to me?>

i'm not sure what is the best way to answer this question, however, i did stay at a holiday inn express last night!
