A couple of years ago, my anxiety level was intolerable. I wouldn't leave the house, had panic attacks, was convinced I was dying... Nobody could reason with me, the only thing that worked was medication. After awhile (several months), I weaned myself off of them and although I still find myself anxious here and there, I am noticeably better. When it gets kind of bad I try to remind myself that I have an anxiety issue and tell myself how I am perceiving things is not necessarily accurate.

I have anxiety/panic disorder. I know anxiety can make you feel helpless and hopeless. Remember you are not alone in this. The 1st attack came in 2000. I had to go on an anti-anxiety medication in addition to the anti-depressant I was already taken for a chemical imbalance which was causing me depression. The anxiety went away to the point where I was doing well for 6 years. My meds. had been cut way down. I was enjoying life. Then it came back in February, April and early summer. My medications had to be increased and I'm seeing a counselor. The medication helps. I wish I could just "talk" myself out of it, but that's not always possible.

Please see a counselor if your anxiety continues. If you can get to understand the triggers you may be able to conquer it without medication, but if you have to take medication, maybe it will just be for a while.

When I feel anxious, I listen to Christian music, or a relaxing CD or read a book if I can. Take a walk. Take a small nap.

God Bless You and may He cure your anxiety forever.

  • Things have to be balanced physically, emotionally, mentally and spiritually. I eat right(most of the time), practice meditation (for my spiritual well being), maintain an attitude of gratitude, regular visits to my doctor and take my meds.
