how much does a train engine weigh?

This can be calculated using the momentum of the train engine. Run the engine to get a speed 'v'. Assume 'M' is the mass of the engine. Switch off the engine and measure the distance it travels and the time taken before it comes to a stop. Using the newtonian equations of motion, we can calculate the mass 'M'.
