Why are there no clocks in Casinos or Malls?

Is there a connection here? Why don't the builders of Malls and Casinos want you to know what time it is?

Let's go over the similarities first...

1.)Both are indoorl environments.

2.)Both are simulated environments that generate simulated experiences

3.)Both are trying to grab every buck they can off you before you leave.

4.)People waste hours upon hours of their lives in both places

5.)People in both places have the same zombie, eyes-glazed-over look generated by the aforementioned fake environments that suck

up all your money.

6.)Employees in both places are underpaid and unskilled, in what

is essentially a dead-end job

7.)No windows can be found in either place, to sever any connection with the real outside world further.

8)ICasinos and Malls are what passes for culture for most

people, from rich suburbs to inner cities.

------So, what is the connection between these two mind-numbing

places that would cause them to remove all clocks and windows

from the premises?

It is not so mind numbing. Do you see clocks in churches, restrooms, trains, buses, parks, golf courses, theatres, beach, etc, etc. Hello. Next time you are bothered with it wear a watch

Your comparison not so fact list sucks too.

1.)Both are indoorl environments. - DUH OFCOURSE

2.)Both are simulated environments that generate simulated experiences - UMMM NOT REALLY. ONLY IF I THINK LIKE YOU

3.)Both are trying to grab every buck they can off you before you leave. - NOT IF YOU HAVE SELF CONTROL AND NOT STUPID TO BE EASILY FOOLED LIKE YOU

4.)People waste hours upon hours of their lives in both places - OFCOURSE THAT'S WHY THEY ARE THERE.

5.)People in both places have the same zombie, eyes-glazed-over look generated by the aforementioned fake environments that suck up all your money. - NOT IF YOU HAVE CONTROL

6.)Employees in both places are underpaid and unskilled, in what

is essentially a dead-end job - IN LAS VEGAS? REALLY THEY ARE UNDERPAID AND UNSKILLED? COME ON.

7.)No windows can be found in either place, to sever any connection with the real outside world further. UMMM BUT THERE ARE SEE THROUGH WALLS THAT LETS YOU SEE THE OUTSIDE WORLD AND YOU COULD ALWAYS GO OUT.

8)ICasinos and Malls are what passes for culture for most

people, from rich suburbs to inner cities. REALLY? SO MOST OF THE PEOPLE DOESN'T WORK OR DOESN'T GO TO SCHOOL??

Casinos and Malls do not want you distracted by anything that will stop you from spending MONEY. When you are in a Mall or Casino you sometimes loose track of time you get caught up in the atmosphere or theme that they project. If there are no clocks you will keep shopping or gambling you sort of loose your sense of time. You tend to forgot that you might have something else today and keep shopping or gambling. In short this is just their way of keeping you there longer.

Virtually all casinos make sure they have no clocks or windows -- they do not want you to interrupt your losing streak by realizing how much time has passed. Of course, we've all heard the legend that Vegas casinos pump in fresh oxygen to keep the players from getting tired and wanting to pack it in. The veracity of this is hard to confirm, but we can only hope it's true,

    3 5 6 and 7 mostly

Mainly they want you to stay there and spend money. Its really that simple. If you see a clock , you might be reminded that you have to go somewhere else and not buy that new sweater or whatever.

I've worked for the gaming industry in Las Vegas. There aren't any clocks because the venue wants you to stay for as long as they could keep you. The longer you stay, the more money you'll spend.

If you think about it, you don't want somebody standing there saying: Get out! You've spent more than 10 mins here...

Because the longer you stay, the more money you'll probably spend...

I'm sure they do it on purpose. Just like they make you walk through the entire casino at the entrance to get to the lobby. But I always have my watch on so it doesn't matter to me.

That is so you cannot have a sense of time, you may stay longer therefore spending more money.

If you lose track of the time they think you will stay longer and spend more money.
